Valletta is the capital of Malta. Its population is 7650. The name of the city was taken from Jean de Valette, the grand master of the Order of the Knights of Malta, who repelled the Ottoman attack attempt. The historical areas of the city were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1980.
